Would it surprise you to know that the only offense in the Frick that's been better than Birmingham has been Buffalo?
Actually, I was just looking at that. :hi5:

Fingers crossed that we can keep it going

Same here. The sample size is looking substantial at this point though, I have high hopes that we can continue to smack the ball around.

In Birmingham... PAGAN rituals no doubt!
If it gets us to the playoffs It can't be all bad...............can it?
That's not as far-fetched as it seems. This is "The Fountain at Five Points South" in Birmingham, AL...likely the busiest entertainment district in downtown. The sculpture is called "The Storyteller" and, yes, that is a half-goat, half-man "reading" to various animals. And, yes, that is a Methodist church behind the fountain (obviously on separately-owned property).

They can stay the Bandits... just change his logo to Bart Simpson holding that statue's head, imo.

The Birmingham Satyr's

or the Birmingham Faun's

The names don't do much for me but the thought of a goat masked man coming out during the 7th inning stretch and sacrificing a sheep in shallow center
could be an interesting form of revenue generation. Just sayin

That statue reminds me of Berserk... but maybe that's just because I'm a nerd.

Where is that in BIR, btw, Ben? I've only been down there to shuttle visitors to and from the train station and its pretty ghetto around there. Always looking for a new place to explore (am getting tired of driving to Nashville or Chattanooga).

The train station is ghetto for now (there are revitalization projects in the works). But if you think of the train tracks as dividing the city north/south, go south (toward "Red Mountain" w/ the statue of Vulcan on top) to see the nicer areas. That particular area is reached by just following 20th St. South and it's roughly 11th Ave So. (like most "five points" it's the old turnaround for the trolleys...the intersection is a circle where the trolleys were picked up and rotated to go back northward).

Then, just over the tracks - between the tracks and 1st Ave So - is the new Railroad Reservation Park that runs from 14th St. So. to 18th St. So. Beautiful park with a lake and amphitheater. And just south of that on the 14th St. So. end is the brand new Regions Field which is the gorgeous new home of the AA Birmingham Barons and the Negro League Museum.

But Five Points is still your best bet to find such a variety of bars, grills, restaurants that there'll definitely be something you like (yes, it's safe to get out and walk around even in the middle of the night...there's plenty of people).

You can also keep following 20th St. So. through the cut in Red Mountain and Vulcan Park will be just through that on your right. You can go up in the tallest cast iron statue in the world and see, um, stuff.

8-3 sim. We are rolling along at the moment. This is usually close to the time we fall apart a little.

Thanks for that - we'll probably do some day trips down there when the weather gets warmer so I'll keep that post in mind. Btw, are you back in state yet (I remember you saying work had you all over the place)? I could stick Nadia with the gf when we get down there one of the times and we could go play a round!

I've been in Charlotte since 2010, but Birmingham will always be my home. Most of my clients are in financial services and Charlotte is kind of an insulated market when it comes to that arena. Birmingham got devastated with mergers/buyouts when the economy went south. They still have Healthcare, though.
