Real life ASGs are pretty pointless, but I usually enjoy the debate about fake baseball voting and roster construction.

I love the midseason recognition and would never want that to go away. Is there anything that engages fans more in the players from all teams and not just the ones they may see their favorite team play? The contests actually work for me in MLB & MLS. You don't really need a playbook for baseball or soccer and it's cool to see players from different teams play together. MLB does involve manager strategy and draws eyeballs and it's fun to see how MLS All-Stars match up against elite clubs (they play someone like Manchester United or Liverpool, if you didn't know) - even if those clubs are in preseason form.

NBA, NHL, & NFL just need to be skills competitions (keep the skills competitions of MLB & MLS, too, obviously). The NBA game is just a joke and not even an unspoken one. NHL and NFL are too bruising to play and the Pro Bowl is in the fucking offseason (I mean, doesn't it suck enough that you missed the Super Bowl? Now you have to put your body out there again...even if it is Hawaii?).

Idk... I think the NHL all-star game has finally found its mojo. They just need to invite a low skill tough guy every year moving forward to keep it going.
