The Great Monty Brewster Logo-Off! Semi-Finals: The Johnson

Post by Chey » Thu Sep 10, 2015 3:43 pm

Image The Landis Championship Series title may be the most coveted award in baseball today -- but surely, a close second in terms of prestige is The Great Monty Brewster Logo-Off! title. Awarded to the team judged by their peers to have the most superior team logo (determined through a rigorous bracket competition), the TGMBLO! bragging rights come with a prize of $150 and a two-week stay at any of the finest Best Westerns in the Buffalo, NY area.

The competition is hosted by the North Association for Sports Aesthetics, a household name in team logos known around the world only by their acronym. While NASA is, of course, headquartered in Buffalo, NY, they have pledged to uphold the integrity of the TGMBLO! and you can be confident that the competition will in no way be weighted in favour of the Bison.

In the first round, each of the Associations divisions must go head to head against one another, with voters selecting one -- AND ONLY ONE -- logo which they find to be the all around most outstanding. In the second round, the three divisional champs will test their aesthetic mettle against one another, leading up to the TGMBLO! Championship, with voters flying into Buffalo for an in-person vote to determine the single greatest team logo in all of the Monty Brewster Baseball Association.

The Frick League battle was hard fought, but in what was the closest, longest running and highest turnout poll of the series, the Kernels eked out a win over the Hustlers and Blazers. Who will they face in the TGMBLO! Championship?

Yellow Springs Nine

The Nine sprung forth from the Johnson League Midwest, and hope to advance once more!

Hawaii Tropics

Hawaii won their own division, but can the Tropics remain on the island, or are they about to be voted off?

Brooklyn Robins

Having robbed the division title from their rivals, Brooklyn now hopes to succeed in TGMBLO! where they came up short in the Landis.

There you have it, distinguished voters. Choose your Johnson League winner. Next up, the Championship!

This one doesn't seem as contentious as the Frick... Personally, I'm pretty surprised to see Hawaii leading right now. They have a nice logo for sure, but I definitely prefer YS9 (and then Brooklyn) over it.

HI was simply the lesser of 3 evils for me, but it has already been established that I don't like old-timey logos.

I agree with Hawaii being a surprise leader. Solid logo, but I found our division the weakest in the league. I think it simply demonstrates how much better the Frick league logos are. I do agree that my team's logo is just terrible. I'll either makes some changes or completely rebrand.

Wow! We're winning at something. Just like on the field, we'll fade away down the stretch.

You should take a look at the retro logos thread on OOTP, Ted. Some great stuff there.

YS9 has pulled ahead! Will they be able to maintain their slim lead and advance to the finals?

I didn't vote for YS9. 90% chance we are changing logo/team name.

That would be a terrible shame.
