JL Allstar Team
JL Allstar Team
Here is your 2014 JL All-star Roster:
The races seemed pretty set to me so I went ahead and did this. If it needs adjusting I will do it after voting closes.
Voted in:
DH Jim Wilson BAL
C Jason Dunn VAL
1B Orlando Chavez MAD
2B Charles Puckett MAD
3B Dale Bunker BAL
SS Bopper Kengos MAD
OF Ed Mansfield LOU
OF Juan Garcia WAS
OF Loran Wakefield OMA
SP Gabriel Campos CAL
SP Brian Middleton VAL
SP Tom Madonald CHI
SP Allen Kennedy CAL
SP Steve Hoffman OMA
P Jorge Garcia MAD
P Wally Walker GRE
P Jonathon Sorensen CHI
P Craig Murray CHI
P Donald Long VAL
And the reserve selections are as follows. I have continued the usual tradition of blatant homerism. I would apologize but I’m not really sorry for doing it.
Reserves:
OF Jose Cruz YS9 – True story is that Jose Cruz was once the only name on my auto-draft pick list when Phoenix drafted him one spot ahead of me. One day he'll be brought to his rightful home. Not having a great season but Yellow Springs didn’t have an obvious choice and Bo Jordan doesn’t have enough AB’s imo to get picked.
SS Daniel Silva HAW – Good young shortstop having a fine season at a premium position.
CL Jason Egan VAN – Ageless wonder Jason Egan continues to dominate at the backend in Vancouver.
SP Zach Brown OMA – Got some love from the voters and he looks like an all-star to me.
OF Martin Felix GRE – He’s in my division and I’m pretty sure he’s batting .750 against me so that’s reason enough. Of course a .306/.341/.445 line means he isn’t quite keeping up that pace against the rest of the league but it’s good enough to make this team.
OF Bob Goodwin OMA – The big slugger is… continuing to slug… to his sixth all star game.
C Maxwell Weiss Jr. OMA – We need a backup catcher and he was the next best one available. An .876 OPS is pretty solid.
1B Lucio Vazquez BAL – One of the finest mustaches in the game and certainly one of the most feared hitters. Also a Monarch which helps tremendously.
3B Han Witter WAS – Having a stand out season for the Bobwhites with a .322/.368/.493 slash line. The three time EBA all star will be making his first MBWBA all star appearance.
2B Eric Thorne CHI – He’s got 3.4 WAR already. Interestingly that only generated one all star vote. Puckett and Kengos must be getting close to retirement by now right?
SS Jared Stuart VAL – Having a really solid season. This guy is going to be around a while.

Re: JL Allstar Team
Not nearly enough homer selections for me... luckily you get a 2nd chance since you need to replace Wakefield - don't dissapoint me, Nick! Malave/Riviere or bust!

Best record in the league and only two All-Stars. Definition of a good team.

Re: JL Allstar Team
Puckett has played about an even number of games over his career at 2B and 3B. I have put him at whichever position I needed most. I had Melvin Bradshaw at 2B the last 2 years but with him gone, and Puckett's dropping defense, I moved him back to 2B and played Jack Hassane at 3B. Hassane is a former EBA pickup whose defense is enough to keep him in the lineup over his poor offense.agrudez wrote:Speaking of which... I though Puckett was at 3B the last few years?
He has actually won a Diamond Glove Award at both 2B and 3B over his career. I wonder how many players in this league have won a defensive award at 2 different positions, especially infield.

Hahaha I thought that was a good jab. I did win the Landis the first season after Labrie retired so you never know.Greeney03 wrote:Can't wait for that day.7teen wrote:nverhoev wrote:Here is your 2014 JL All-star Roster:

Re: JL Allstar Team
And yes I recognize I wasn't that bad of a homer. I was considering Yves Riviere for the team but thought that an all star appearance might increase his contract demands in a contract year. Probably over thought that one.

Re: JL Allstar Team
I named Robert Harrell and Joshua Carruthers to the team to replace the injured Wakefield and Garcia.
