Brendan Meyer has started his own elite company on May 4, 2009. Meyer is the first closer in MBWBA history to reach 500 saves milestone.
The newest member of the 500 club told reporters after the game, "I get the ball and I try to win the game. When I get a save, my team wins and really that's all that matters.
I'm happy to reach the milestone but it's just that. The more important part is that I've helped my club win." While picking up the save, Meyer allowed 1 hit and no runs in 1 innings of work.
Second on the Saves All Time List is Free Agent Ted Dever. Currently, Dever has 476 saves. Third, is the Hall of Famer Gunga Oogolagunga with 461 saves.
There are three closers likely to join this elite club soon. Vancouver's Jason Egan, Madison's Justin Marco, and Buffalo's Richard Wasson.
Egan is currently 4th on the all-time list with 458, Marco is sitting in 5th place with 452 and Wasson is still in the 8th place with 421 saves.
The million dollar question is, who among these three active pitchers will join Meyer in the 500 club first?
