Big 3 get call for the first time, and maybe the last time

Montreal

Blazers management announced today that they have called up three of their top prospects as September call ups. Joining the rotation will be stud SPers Martin "Dutch Oven" Huigens, and Moses "Prima Donna" Tallchief. They are both expected to get two starts as the season winds down. Also joining the team is 2B Ernie "The Mennonite" Stauffer. There is a good chance that all three will never be back at the AAA level. All three of them had strong to dominating seasons at AAA. It is expected that both Huigens and Tallchief will anchor the rotation for the Blazers next season. "I would say that Huigens was strong this season. He doesn't have the kind of stuff that will dominate hitters. He has great control, and needs to change speeds. He will give up his share of hits so he needs a strong defense behind him," said GM Callahan. "Tallchief is a different kind of pitcher. He was dominating at times this year and has a heavy fastball. Much more of a strikeout type pitcher," added Callahan. "We really like what Stauffer brings to the table. He has a little power, but is more of a gap type hitter. He hit .337 this year with a .404 OBP. His defense is only average at this point but we are hoping that he may get a little better in that area," added Callahan.

Even if the big three struggle in September it is expected that all will start the season next year with the big club. "That is usually the way I like to do it. I don't like calling up kids until they are ready so they only need to be called up one time," said Callahan.

That last part of the title had me thinking they'd be on the trade block this offseason and I got excited, haha.

I hope Tallchief and Stauffer do well for you. I got a little attached to them while they were in my system.

Stauffer's a stud. If I could take a trade back, I probably wouldn't have made this one:
Was traded by the Las Vegas Hustlers to the Phoenix Talons, along with SS Philippe LaRouche, SS Jack McKeon Eoff, SP Cal Wilson, in exchange for SS Waichirou Moronobu, SS Benjamin Calfo.
But that'd mean I wouldn't have Joe Garland. Close decision, there.

I wanted him as a defensive utility guy. He looked better at the time, then lumped badly when I waived him to the minors the next year. That kid had so much promise when he first came up with Phoenix.
