2063.25 Press Release: Nine Obtain Gui for Cash
Run-ming Gui. Gui, 35, can play across the entire infield, with his best position being third base.
Gui was with the Krill for 12 seasons, dating back to when the team was located in a saner location, namely Seattle. He was a regular for them for 10 of those years, mostly manning the hot corner, but also playing well at second base when needed. He has a career ZR of 40.4 at third base to go along with a career batting average of .238 with 307 home runs and 887 RBIs.
"One of the issues we've had the past few season is that we've been a little thin in the infield in terms of someone being able to be a full-time starter if there's an injury anywhere other than shortstop, ironically enough," said GM Rob McMonigal. "I was scouring the free agent lists when Ron [Bikini GM Ron Collins] mentioned he was looking to move on from Run-ming, and I knew immediately I had my Gui." The GM laughed. "Run-ming has been a great starter for Seattlekini and has been gracious about accepting that he's moving more into a part time role. I feel confident now that we have someone who can take on a regular role at third or second and keep us in the fight for a wild card spot.
"Plus," McMonigal added, "anytime I can save someone from the effects of having to use the Door 81 times, I consider it a work of mercy. One of these days, that Door is going to malfunction. It's a miracle that hasn't happened yet."
"I had kinda hoped I could be a lifetime member of the Storm/Krill," said Gui, "but this is a business. It was clear that Ron wanted to move on from me, and while I don't understand it, I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a key member of a Nine team that's on the rise. I look forward to what this season brings."
The Nine are offering "He's my Gui" T-shirts and hats for sale at their online store and at select retail locations. As always, they're locally made!

Those have been an expensive 102 PAs on a team looking like they're out of contention but he's hit well.

It actually cost him nothing. YS9 has $37 mil in bonus funds and $48 mil cash on hand. They will be maxed out at seasons end regardless.BaseClogger wrote: ↑Tue Jul 08, 2025 11:29 amThose have been an expensive 102 PAs on a team looking like they're out of contention but he's hit well.

Yellow Springs should have signed every IFA available but that’s about opportunity cost and another conversationae37jr wrote: ↑Tue Jul 08, 2025 12:24 pmIt actually cost him nothing. I don't like IFAs. This is well documented. Also had budgeted for more FA but ended up getting outbid. it happens.
I don't care if I "lose" money. As long as I am never actually losing money then I control my fate. I realize this is not a popular position but it's mine.

My 2 cents. Dont put handcuffs on yourself. Throwing some money at IAFAs is just a dice roll.Trebro wrote: ↑Tue Jul 08, 2025 2:00 pmI don't like IFAs. This is well documented. Also had budgeted for more FA but ended up getting outbid. it happens.

I did bid but I got out bid. probably should review how and what I bid on. in hindsight I should have gone over the limit this past off-season but I had other plans that just didn't take.Jwalk100 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 08, 2025 3:15 pmMy 2 cents.
