premature release

Post by mragland » Sat May 17, 2025 8:52 am

In the past sim the Monarchs signed a couple of players to minor league contracts on 1/30 and they were released on 2/14, I believe because their DFA time elapsed without action on the club's part. Could we put those players on my AAA squad?

I believe it was due to your org being over the unofficial (until it turns official Opening Day) roster limit, so technically no room...same thing happened to me last sim, or at least that's how I assume why they were released. (And no, I don't want them retroactively put them in my system.)

Also, condolences regarding the post subject. There's medications for that now...

Unless something changed, roster limits don't apply until a league is in its regular season. ST and 40 man limits are in effect, but minor league FA wouldn't be put on either and we had room on both anyway.

I've noticed this on a few other teams, some of which easily have room in the minors, so it's unclear why this happened. Jerusalem even had a $2M major league contract released, which definitely should be fixed.

Here are the players affected, in addition to the two LON players that Morris posted:
CAI RP Mike Smith
CAI RP Wayne Burr
JER CF John Moore
JER RF Luis Chavez
SYD SS Jiao-long Ta
SYD SP John Cochrane
Woody Donahue
President of Baseball Operations, Cape Fear Swamp Foxes (2062-present)
London Monarchs (2060-2061)
Boise Spuds (2047-2054)
Cairo Pharaohs - UMEBA (2046)

Vic Caleca UMEBA TN of the Year 2046
