Feels good to finally type "2063" up above. The Rule 5 draft came and went with the Bears selecting two players to fill up the 40-man roster. We expected to take three players but worked out a trade with Atlantic City right beforehand that I'll discuss in more detail below. One player was lost from the San Fernando organization when they were drafted by another team.
Players Drafted

San Fernando Bears: Drafted 2B Juan Montoya in the 2062 Rule 5 Draft (Round 1, Pick 21, 21st overall Pick) from the Valencia Stars.

San Fernando Bears: Drafted 2B Aggur Lugono in the 2062 Rule 5 Draft (Round 2, Pick 21, 53rd overall Pick) from the Omaha Cyclones.
The complicating factor for this pick to survive on our active roster is that we already acquired a DH vLHP with the below trade. Schumacher is a more proven player having produced some in the BBA last season, but Lugono might have the better current ratings, at least some skill defensively, and a superior personality. This should be a spring competition to watch.

The Atlantic City Gamblers traded 24-year old LF Cornell Schumacher to the San Fernando Bears, getting 23-year old minor league LHP Clay Stabb in return.
Player Lost

Long Beach Surfers: Drafted 3B Ricardo Antúnez in the 2062 Rule 5 Draft (Round 1, Pick 3, 3rd overall Pick) from the San Fernando Bears.
Long Beach has a history of taking players in the Rule 5 and returning them, so maybe Antunez makes his way home. After reviewing their roster I don't see a ton of room for a corner guy, especially after trading for Emilio Morales Jr. earlier in the offseason. On the other hand, he was the third overall pick in this draft. Long Beach added a couple of free agents this sim but they still don't look like a team that is going to contend so maybe the Surfers stash their pick. We'll see.
