Rich Dares is a 6'2" 200lb "shortstop" from Winnepeg, Manitoba. He was born on June 30th, 2028. He was acquired by the Talons via free agency, signing a 4 year, $37 million contract before the 2062 season. Dares had a pretty nondescript career before his time in Portland, where he became a star. He parlayed that performance into a big payday, and the Talons took the bait. Unfortunately, Dares is back to his old negative WAR self, despite being healthy for almost the entire season.
Talons Scouting Director Schytt E. Pyck put it like this: "Welp, guess we got bamboozled on this one. Maybe we can slide him over to second base and get some value from him. But that would involve getting another shortstop, and we literally have no one better than Dares' 8 rating. SO I guess we're stuck with him. What a joke. Where the fuck are all the good shortstops??"
