2062.73 Charlotte Prospect Watch-Second Base

Post by Krathan » Fri Apr 18, 2025 4:59 pm

This is the third article in my look at the top prospects in my organization. This article will detail my top second base prospects.

1 The top prospect on this list is easily Kutsi Abas. He was originally signed as an IAFA on January 1, 2060 for $3.21 million. He has had some dev bumps and has started to see some growth in his current ratings as well. Abas has potential ratings of 8/7/7/5 with the ability to be a very good second baseman. He could also play left field well, though his arm is below average in the outfield. Abas was named the rookie league position player of the year, thought there was some controversy surrounding that selection. This year, he slashed .274/.330/.437 with 17 doubles, 7 home runs, and 31 RBI in 64 games.

2 The second player on the list is Riyadi Nasution. He was originally taken in the 10th round of the 2060 draft. He has played at the rookie and short A levels. This year, he slashed .264/.340/.403 with 2 WAR in 67 games with Adirondack. His potential ratings of 5/5/3/4 are not particularly impressive but he does have defensive ratings that mean he could become a useful utility man if he fills out, especially if he could get a bump or two.

3 The next player on the list is Gonzalo Santana. He was originally taken in the 11th round of the 2057 draft. Santana is 24 years old and has not played above A ball. In three plus seasons with Danville, he has slashed .265/.311/.413 with 86 doubles, 31 home runs, and 162 RBI. His current and potential ratings are 5/6/4/4.

4 The final player on this list is John Fitch. The 21 year old has potential ratings of 5/5/3/5 and isn't far from reaching them. He has the ability to play multiple infield and outfield positions defensively. He has spent his entire pro career in rookie ball but will get a chance to move up next season. In 134 rookie league games, he has posted 2.3 WAR and a wRC+ of 142.

I'm not saying that Abas has told me he wants to play on the atoll soon, but that's not because he hasn't. Or something like that.
