2062.12: SFB New & Notes

7/10/2062

  • As announced in our previous TN post, this year’s first round draft pick, 19 year-old Carlos Williams, has already been promoted to the BBA. Despite his tender age he’s mostly developed, wasn’t challenged in the minors, and is now one of the most talented arms in our bullpen.
  • The Bears had two all-stars, Yuu Suzuki and Jose Reyes. Suzuki is a household name at this point and just won Player of the Week. He hit a crucial two-run homer to help move the Frick past the Johnson 4-0. Reyes, on the other hand, is making us look like a genius for selecting him in the rule 5 draft. He hasn’t fully broken into the everyday lineup since he’s blocked at his two best positions, second base and third base. The front office is still skeptical that his .346/.386/.513 slash is BABIP fueled.
  • Qutuz Mahdi was a noticeable snub from the all-star roster, with the inferior Brooks Eliot making the team despite weaker overall offensive and defensive numbers.
  • Ajwad bin Fateen was the only SFB prospect named to the FL Futures Game roster but he made the most of the opportunity by winning the game’s MVP award. The #48 overall rated prospect in the BBA leads his rookie league team in most offensive categories.
  • With Felix Ramos sidelined by injury for two weeks, more playing time will be given to recently recalled Rafael Marquis. Marquis contributed 24 home runs to the 2061 Bears and we hope he can give us a similar shot in the arm supplementing our attack against RHP with Ramos out.
  • Rick Marriott’s torn UCL is fully healed and he’ll begin a AAA rehab assignment in the next sim.

I've been seeing draftees in most of my leagues that are ready to play in the majors. Something that needs watching.

Rookie ball is going to be filled with IFA guys and it's a tight squeeze at SA. This development (no pun intended) has me even more down on IFAs.

I don't think that is a good thing by any means. This isn't the NFL. Players who are Skenesian should be very, very rare.
