The Walkoff Watch 2062: May Edition 2.0

Image (Man, I totally forgot that was Corey Hart!)

The 2nd half of May was KKRRRRAAAZZZEEE and we at The Watch loved it! An epic game, an epic end to a game, and a strong charge to the top of the Silver Goat race!

The Walkoff Watch Terminology

balkoff When a pitcher balks in the winning run.
derpoff When a pitcher walks in the winning run, hits a batter with the bases full, or the winning run scores due to a wild pitch or error.
200-proof walkoff When the home team scores in the bottom of a previous inning to extend the game and then scores with a walkoff in a subsequent inning.
pimpoff When the home team scores a walkoff following the visiting team tying the game to cause extra innings (or more extra innings) or scoring what would have been the winning run if the home team hadn’t responded.

May v2.0 Team and Player Highlights
- First, let’s address the elephant in the room: Phoenix (2-6) is not that terrible in walkoff terms, but you gotta be kidding me at 5-23 in 1-run games! That’s as of 6/29 but it certainly warrants a spotlight.
- New Orleans (5-2) & Austin (6-4) handled the 4 walkoff games they were involved in. While Charm City (3-1) split their 4 and Calgary (4-4) & Boise (4-4) choked at 1-3 for the last half of the month.
- Give it up for Las Vegas’ (3-5) Art Cherry who surrendered a whopping 3 walkoffs to jump into the pack at the top of the Goat standings.
- Vancouver (3-1) was tied at 2 with Omaha (4-3) in the bottom of the 10th when the manager had the cajones to call for a SQUEEZE BUNT!! And they pulled it off! Probably because Omaha was in shock. We can’t remember the last squeeze we’ve seen as a walkoff, but it’s been years.
- On the 29th Bikini (0-5) tied their game in Louisville (3-5) at 5 in the top of the 7th. It stayed that way into the 17th where Bikini scored 2 to win the….hold on…Louisville answered in the bottom of the frame. Ok, Bikini tried again in the 19th this time scoring 3 runs. That should be enough for a W right? Not for the Walkoff Gods. With Bikini’s Félix Vidaca headed out to the mound to mop up the 19th, he may have been the last healthy arm on the squad so it was all on him. A solo HR, 2 singles, and 2 walks (the last one being of the bases-loaded type) later Louisville’s Justin Weatherford delivered a single up the middle to score José Jackson and complete the 11-10 victory. Were there any fans left to celebrate?

You are correct. Been so long since I've seen one in real life or OOTP.
