The Valencia Stars rolled past Madison by sweeping a 4 game set this past week. The pitching was dominant as the three of the wins were of the shutout variety.

In game one, Thomas Turner (7-2) took the mound and pitched 7 innings en-route to a 2-0 victory allowing just one hit and walking one while striking out four. Bob Loblaw pitched a scoreless eighth while Luis Perez pitched a perfect ninth to register his eighth save. The only scoring on the day came off of the bat of Mark Kimball as he launched a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning.

In the second game, the pitching turned out about the same when Lindsay Barber went 7.1 innings in a 5-0 win. Lindsay allowed one hit while walking three and striking out seven. Eduardo Moreno came in and got the final five outs without allowing a runner to reach base to notch his 13th save of the season. Eduardo struck out two batters on the evening as part of his league leading 93 K’s to date this season. Mark Kimball again had the hot bat collecting three hits on the evening.

The Madison Wolves did muster up some offense in game 3 but still came out on the short end of the tally by a score of 4-3. Shiro Takahashi had a strong outing going 6.1 innings while allowing 1 run on 4 hits. Luis Perez (2-2) was credited with the win after blowing the save in the top of the 9th.

In the final game of the series, the Valencia pitching again locked things down as it came out on top by a score of 6 to 0. This time around it was up to Alvin Antsey (2-0) to take the mound where he went 6.2 innings giving up three hits and 2 walks while striking out 9. Koray Kapkin provided the offensive punch as he went yard two times while driving in five runs.

Overall the Valencia starters went 27.1 innings allowing one run on 9 hits.
