Could This Be The End of Graham Aubry?
May 15, 2062 | Forever Land | A week after acquiring 22-year-old DH Al Schumann, the Bikini Krill front office has announced a deal with Long Beach to bring 23-year-old right fielder Julio Lopez to the team.
"We needed another left-handed bat in the lineup," said manager Kate Fiscus. "And Julio is a good strapping 6-foot-6 worth of one of those. I can't wait to get him into my office and see what he's made of."
The front office says that Lopez will report straight to a role in right field, where his cannon of an arm should play well. The 23-year-old has been up and down in the Long Beach organization over the past few seasons, but like Schumann before him, has several seasons of team control remaining on his contract. Though young, he's already known as a solid teammate and a hard competitor.
"I'm looking forward to having him on the team," said first baseman Mike McClure.
The club also announced that Lopez would be filling the roster spot vacated when Graham Aubry suffered his first injury of the year. Some are wondering if the team's acquisitions of Schumann and Lopez might be the death knell for Aubry's time with the squad. If this is true, mostly we say "hope the door don't hit you in the ass on the way out."
Heading to Long Beach are prospects Mitchell Cook (AAA), who was most likely projected to be a solid utility player in the next season or two, and reliever Eugene Arnold (A) who has been impressing the club's baseball people for some time now.
