The Hawaii Tropics announce the signing of Kinzo Iwamoto to a one-year deal worth $11 million dollars. He can earn a bonus of $2.5 million for a Nebraska and $750,000 if he makes the Frick All Star team.
Iwamoto has pitched the majority of his career in San Fernando but began in Sacramento with the Mad Popes. After his 6 ½ year stay with the Bears, he had stops in Boise, Las Vegas, Brooklyn, Montreal and New Orleans. His best years were with the Blazers making 130 starts and going 59-33 while throwing 789.2 innings with a 3.53 ERA. He had a decent season in New Orleans last year with 33 starts and 196 innings but was 9-13 with a 4.87 ERA.
Hawaii GM said, “Iwamoto can be counted on to make 32+ starts and give us some innings. Hopefully he can put up similar numbers that he put up in Montreal."
Kinzo’s ratings are 5/6/6/6/6 with a 6 Change, 6 Cutter and 6 Knuckle Curve. He is an extreme groundball type pitcher that hits 93-95 on the gun. He has high stamina and holds runners well.
