WILL LEE WEEKEND (which lasted four days) was a success. Ticket prices were halved to 11 bucks and 45,000-plus packed Edward Murphy Memorial Stadium Saturday to see Will Lee start the game and pitch two innings. Fans were also treated to waiver-pickup Spartak Paschenkov hitting a home run his first ML at-bat. Sunday 46,000 fans were on-hand to see Lee catch, with Dileep Mirchandani (1.67 in 5 games) starting and winning while Springs Alfredo Anaya lost his 20th.

There was a botch up in the give-away of five silver teeth in the newest Kernels Piping Hot Popcorn variety Leave No Kernal Behind™ as some fans brought silver teeth to the game in an attempt to cheat their way to the Grand Surprise of Kernels Season Tickets for the 2062 campaign. Microspectroanalsysis of the teeth are required to determine the winners. Herman Microtrout says Iowa General will make the analysis its highest priority today.

3B Hitoshi Kitamura #11 won Frick League Player-of-the-Week by batting .500 (12 for 24) with three home runs and 10 rbis. Kitamura finished 2061 with an .874 OPS.

Will Lee Saturday surrendered consecutive doubles to Don Anderson and Juan Silva, then walked Emílio Navarro on four pitches, and all Iowa was wondering if Lee would record an out in the first major league game as a pitcher of the 29-year-old infielder. Lee answered by striking out clean-up hitter Roberto Gabriel on three pitches. Lee than fielded an Attana Sangeeta ground out and retired Carlos Hernández on a fly ball to Paschenkov in left. Paschenkov came to the plate and smacked a ball off of Pete Hulett that landed 399 feet in the stands.

With a tie game Des Moines decided to send Lee out for a second inning, or at least to pitch in a second inning. Lee struck out Hilel Bahir and retired the next two batters on five pitches. Arturo 'Pendragon' Damasco would replace Lee in the third; he pitched three innings and gave up one run. For Lee, he faced nine batters [which was his limit] and threw 18 out of 31 pitches for strikes. His career WHIP stands at 1.50. Yellow Springs won the game, 5-3.

Next day, Lee started as catcher. He played all nine innings, allowing two passed balls; he threw out Juan Silva at second and said it was more exciting the striking out two batters the previous day. Des Moines won the game 13-9, with the relief corps allowing six runs in the 8th and 9th. Lee delivered an rbi, his seventh of the long 2061 campaign, which he finished with a .145 average. He muscled two home runs and had a double amid his 19 hits. On Monday and Tuesday Lee started at right, and he finished the 2061 season having played every position, P, C, 1b, 2b, 3b, ss, lf, cf, rf. He did not, as far as my memory goes, dh. As a starter he hit .118 (13 for 110) and as pinch-hitter he hit .286. It's probable he won't be offered arbitration this off season.

DM won game three 6-5 with Kitamura grabbing four rbis. The Kernels lost the season closer, game 162, by a nasty 13-2. Félix 'Matchbox' Parreno hit his 30th homer of the season.
