Lúcio Juárez
It has not been the best year for Juárez. After last year's 5+ WAR campaign, which he finished with a 14-9 record and a 2.87 ERA (148 ERA+), Juárez is 5-11 with a 4.42 ERA (97 ERA+) this season. Scouts chalk up his season to poor luck and a bad defense behind him, confident that he can bounce back next year.
It's bad luck for the Blazers, though, who are within two games of a wildcard spot. A week after the trade deadline when they passed up several chances to improve their rotation, they now find themselves in need of another starting pitcher, with no obvious candidates. Team officials refused to speculate who would assume Juárez's spot in the rotation.
