Galaxy Gas 2061.48 - Russelville Experiment Two Years Later
After the 2058 season when the Russelville Rockets finished their 12th of the last 13 seasons with 39 plus losses in its 68 game schedule, the Valencia front office decided to go a different direction with the personnel running that team. All three of the coaches were fired and replaced by three coaches with a combined experience of 0 years.
In 2059, the Rockets improved to 33-35 and then followed it in the 2060 season with its best record since 2046 at 40-28. With 14 games to go in 2061, the squad from Russelville is currently 37-17 on its way to its potentially best season since 2044 when they won 53 games.
The performance so far was good enough to have two extensions offered and accepted to keep the coaching trio in tact.
Hayden Froggatt is the manager at Russelville. Hayden is currently on a contract for $35K per year through the end of the 2062 season. The record since Hayden’s arrival is 77-45 to date. Hayden’s ratings to this point are equally impressive as he is rated as Good on Development and Excellent on Mechanics. Hayden is also rated at Average on Teaching Pitching and Teaching Hitting.
Cristobal Acosta – In his two years as pitching coach, the team ERA was 3.58 last season compared to 3.24 so far this season. Cristo’s salary was increased from $85K this year to $90K each of the next two seasons. Cristo’s ratings are considered Excellent when it comes to Development and Outstanding when it comes to Mechanics. Cristo also has an Excellent rating when it comes to Teaching Pitching.
Luis Gutierrez – Luis has also been with the team the last two seasons. ‘Dirt Dog’ as the fans and players like to call him, has helped the team improve from a team batting average of .270 in 2060 up to .297 so far in 2061. Luis’ ratings is Good when it comes to Development and Average when it comes to Mechanics and Teaching Hitting. The team's offensive performance was good enough to get Luis a two year extension as well raising his salary from $30K up to $35K for the next two seasons.
Although Russelville is 37-17 to this point in the season, the squad is still 7 games behind Charlottesville, but it is still good enough for the third overall record amongst the 32 teams in the Spike Nolan League.
