TN 61.02 Shredders Bats Go Silent in 2-3 Week

As Casey Stengel once said, “My phenoms are phenominating”. A rather bleak looking lineup has put the Shredders on the losing side the last two weeks. This time they dropped two of three to San Antonio before splitting the first two of a three game set with the Phoenix Talons.
The pitching was not bad, getting a pair of good starts from Mus’ad Amr and Jorge Marín. But, the three losses put this team behind the 8-ball. Especially the blanking at the hands of Phoenix who used five pitchers to shut out Austin on five hits.
The offense has been anemic, among the league worst in batting average, OPS and home runs. They can’t hit and when they do, they can’t hit it far. Glenn Fox is off to a horrible start, going just five-for-his-first-32 at the plate. The hope was that the move to a corner outfield spot would take off some of the pressure, but the 30-year-old Fox seems to be shedding his ability pretty quickly and he is still due $31.2 million for the next three years. Some hard choices may need to be made. They have one good, young prospect at the BBA level already in Luis Rúbio and Jorge Herrera may be only a year or two away.

There may be some help on the way. The new AAA affiliate, the Odessa Hobos, have managed to go 6-5, but more importantly, field the 2nd best rotation in the Johnson League. It is early days for the Hobos, but stay tuned.

Having a struggling team is really frustrating. And all these "4" contact guys are just off the charts for volatility.

I have struggled in this league mightily to make headway. I have a complete dearth of pitching and prospects except corner OF and 1B, which the drafts are overflowing with.
