Dracula Arrives?
April 1, 2061: Lake City – While perhaps the bigger news item surrounding Lake City baseball this year was the arrival of top prospect Benji Amberman, righthanded pitcher Heath Brown made his own auspicious entrance. Brown, who posted a 2.58 ERA in s28 innings in Port au Prince last year, arrived wearing nothing but black, and with his truth patch of a beard died such a dark red it drove a stake of fear right through the hearts of the clubhouse.
“Dude looked like Dracula,” said catcher Rahimat Sulayman. “I’m thinking I’ll need to line my glove with a little garlic powder.
“Pitchers live by putting fear into hitters,” Brown—who is generally seen as a solid leader, but who decided he wanted to make a…um…splash—said as he prepared to start his first season in April. “I thought it was fun, you know? And my beard is already red, so it wasn’t hard to touch it up a little. I’ll take every advantage I can.”
“Until I looked closer, I thought blood was running down his chin.” Said outfielder John Allen.
Lake City Lime pitching coach Miguel Garcia wasn’t taken too far aback. He explained that Brown is already a hard throwed, toppint the gun at 98 MPH, and that Brown could ride his three pitch arsenal all the way to the big leagues.. “He just needs to work on keeping it in the park now. So we’ll be working on that. I met with him last week before the announcement that he was coming here. I know he’ll put in the work.”
In the meantime, there is apparently no truth to the rumor that Brown’s image does not appear in mirrors.
