Ray Matthews
Age 23
In a rare case I decided to select lefty pitcher Ray Matthews from Sacramento. Matthews was a second round pick in the 2054 draft. He’s spent a ton of time in A ball and has recently come through from a partially torn labrum. In A ball he currently sports a 40-24 record with a 3.14 ERA, mostly as a starter.
Matthews has the stamina and three pitches to be a starter, but my plan is to have him as reliever. But due to recent free agent signings I’m not sure if he’ll make the cut for the main roster and could be sent back. We’ll see how he looks in spring training.
He currently sports a fastball, curveball and sinker, and would be the second lefty reliever on the team.
