2061-5 Mounties sign three, miss main
I reallllly wanted to sign Jose Vargas and made what i felt was a pretty large offer for him. 6 years roughly $85,000,000. Unfortunately he signed over to Charlotte for nearly $10 million more. Oh well it is what it is, thankfully I did manage to sign the three others I had been targeting.
SS Quintin Trewartha
3 years, $20 million
Well welcome back. After acquiring Trewartha late 2057 he left us the following offseason for Hawaii. Ever since then its been a patch job trying to fill the shortstop position. In 58 it was Thomas Kramer, 59 Oskar Lojdahl, and last year it was Jose Villa. I actually didn't mind how Villa played but with the recent trade of Yazeed bin Saleem, he'll be playing 2B, 3B AND SS. Trewartha will bring his elite shortstop glove and line up next to Diamond Glove winner Reynaldo Serrano. That has me salivating. Now this may seem like an overpay at $6.6 million annually, but he's only slated to make $3 million this year before a team then player option. The team option will obviously be declined.
RP Tulon Koruturk
3 years, $27 million
Coming off a fantastic postseason for Charlotte in their Monty run, Koruturk will hopefully bring some more firepower to a bullpen that was middle of the league last year. In the 2060 postseason he had a 1.17 ERA in 15 innings pitched, with 4 wins and 0 losses. He's always been a consistent reliever, having just one season above 4 ERA. With his ability to induce groundballs into my new SS signing, I think this is one that can pay off. Will he replace Jesus Garcia as the closer? Haven't decided yet. Did I overpay? Yes, but sometimes you have to take risks if you want to see the postseason, and at worst case by the time I have to pay my young guys this contract will be up.
RP Byron Ratcliffe
1 year, $3 million
This one is more so that I needed a lefty for the pen, since last year we mainly had all righties. He has struggled the last three years with Portland it at least gives us a chance to get a leftie in our pen. If it works great, if not, at least it's only one year.

Good luck with Trewartha. I just couldn't take that black hole in the lineup.

It’s why I was hoping to sign Vargas, but thankfully there’s still some money to spend and some offensive options out there.

It’s definetly a lot than he should’ve gotten but I think if it helps our bullpen even more it’ll be worth it.

I was trying for Trewartha for Moscow in the GBC on like a one year deal. Risky taking a 34 year old shortstop whose entire value is defense and giving him a three year deal. Good luck!

Oh don't worry he isn't staying past this season. Team option for the win!

Just needs to be viewed as 1 year, $4.4M to include the buyout.
