61.02 Blazers Hire New Assistant GM

After the retirement of assistant GM Juan Carlos Gonzáles only a year after he was elevated from manager, the Blazers have been interviewing candidates for the position over the past couple of weeks. Today, they announced his replacement.


Haroun Ashraf
Haroun Ashraf will take the reins of the Blazers front office. At 60 years of age with no professional baseball experience, it makes for an unusual hire. But GM Bob Breum says he has a great deal of confidence in Ashraf, who he says is “very compatible with our team building philosophy.”
