2060.20 Menzies talks about the team from the IL

Post by Krathan » Tue Aug 13, 2024 6:11 pm

Robert Menzies spent the last week on the Injured List with a shoulder injury. He will be rejoining the team on the field in Brooklyn on Monday. He shared some of his thoughts from watching games he missed over the last 7 days.

Its different watching the games from the dugout, you know? I got to play most of the time last year and I'm hoping for more of that again this year so Its frustrating having to sit for a week, you know? But it was only a week. Man, 57 and 58 sucked. I don't want to do that again. I barely got to play at all.

Its kind of fun watching these guys play though. Masûkî is really something at short, man. I love watching him play. He reminds me a little bit of me from a couple of years ago defensively, ha. Honestly, he's probably better there than I ever was, but I would have had a fit if somebody had said that to me back then.

Trujillo is just going off right now, man. Did you know he leads the Johnson League in RBI? He's second in the whole BBA. Same for batting average. All that kid does is hit the ball hard, you know?. He just looks unstoppable up there right now.

And Montero has been almost as good at the plate. I looked up his numbers with San Fernando. He didn't do anything like this when he was there. Did you know he's already matched his career high in home runs? In 21 games? That's just nuts. And his defense is awesome too. Have you seen the arm on that kid? He threw out Richard Vernon on a single to right in the 1st inning against Rockville the other day and we only won that game by 1 run. That's not the first time he's done that this year either. That kid is gonna win us a few games this year for sure.

Our starting pitchers have been awesome! Buwono and Fleming have been great pretty much all year but Little Johnny and Mendoza had great starts this week. And people better not sleep on Natta. He doesn't always go deep into games on the bump but hes been really good so far. At least 5 innings and only gave up more than 1 run once? Ill take that.

Actually, Bandit has been hittin' the cover off the ball too. I feel like he's really taken his game to another level this year. And he was really good last year.

I know our bullpen has been a little inconsistent so far but there are some good arms in there. Those guys are gonna figure it out, you know. I've seen a bunch of those guys get a lot of really tough outs. I know they're gonna start doing it again.

I like the team this year. These guys go out there to win games. I mean, we had four 1 run games this week and won 3 of them. The boys fought and figured out ways to win. That's what it takes. We've got a lot of really good players, but they're also fun guys to be around too, you know? I think this team is gonna have a really good year. I just gotta' get back out on the field and do my part.

Montero’s lack of power is exactly why he was expendable to me. I guess I never had my strategy settings aggressive enough for him as a base stealer either.

He’s off to such a hot start. It will be interesting to see how he ends up.
