Galaxy Gas 2059.52 – Stars Suspend talks with Adam Hines

In a devastating blow to many of the fans that frequent Dunn field on game day, news has leaked out that Adam Hines at this point plans to test the free agent market.

Terms of the deal at the time of the of the end of the discussion was a 4-year/$50M deal. With the output that Hines had in 2059, the front office felt he more along the line of $8.5M to $9M per year.
Hines had a 13-13 record this past season with an ERA of 4.83 but tailed off in August/September as he went 3-5 with an ERA over 6 and lost his last 3 decisions. His ratings continue to be higher than his production at this point, but he still performed to result in a WAR of 3.0.

One fan stated, “A salary of $12M per year is not terrible for an ace of the pitching staff. But one then wonders, is he our ace our staff is that anemic”?

Another fan lamented, "Why were they paying attention rescuing people from the assisted living center (signing Voermans and Jackson) instead of working on their meal ticket?"

Hines was not available for comment. The Valencia GM was asked while ‘contemplating the end of the season” at the local Drink-n-Think. His response was, “We are hoping that talks will resume at some point in the off-season.”

I thought about making a run for him at the deadline before settling on a free bin Majid al Din. Probably stupid for not doing so considering he isn't going to resign in Valencia. I probably could have put something together better than Comp pick.

Probably worse on my part. Should have just done the deal on the trade deadline sim. Did not realize he would go silent the sim after.

Not sure any of the offers I had were better than a comp pick although a few of them were close.

He certainly did. He will need a 6+ WAR to even out that salary I am guessing but if it gets you to the playoffs he could still be worth it.
