The Morning Glory 2059.05: Oysters Trade

The Oysters have made a deal with the Surfers.

Rocky Mountain is sending IF Radu Lupan and SP Mesîh Yamak to Long Beach for COF Glenn Fox and SP Jayden Nicholls.

Lupan is RMO's #3 prospect and projects to be a bat first 2B. Lupan has struggled mightily at A ball and left to try and figure it out. He's one of many players the organization missed on their evaluation and moved up a level sooner than he was ready for. He still show potential to have some pop and be a solid overall hitter while playing slightly below average defense.

Yamak is RMO's #9 prospect and projects to be a SP. His flyball mentality doesn't figure to play well in the Rocky Mountain thin air. A scouting find out of Turkey, he projects to have pretty good stuff and be a solid backend start. At only 17 though, he has a lot of room to grow.

Coming back to RMO, Fox will slide into LF while Steve Cahill and Federico Linares are on the IL. It's possible Fox goes to the bench once Linares comes back from injury. However, a hot stretch from Fox could put Cahill on then bench when Linares comes back.

Nicholls is also coming to the team. He will make a few starts in place of Jamie Barber, who is making 2 rehab starts this week. Nicholls figures to add length to the bullpen once Barber is activated and be the first man up if any other starters get hurt.

Both players acquired look to be rentals at this time.

Reports from inside the organization are that this is all they'll do. They've had some talks with other teams but nothing has materialized. With only a few more hours left until the deadline, we think the Oysters are done making moves.
