- The Cantrell trade: SFB trades SP Arnold Cantrell (retaining 50%), OF Roberto Delgado, and OF Kamatari Kino to Las Vegas. Las Vegas sends back LF/DH Chris Hall, SS Maximo Gousto, and SP Dylan Harmon.
The Hustlers get a front end starting pitcher at a reduced $6M per year salary thru 2060 with team options in 2061 and 2062. In return for that excess value plus two solid young outfielders we land a high ceiling shortstop prospect and the last two arb years of an established power hitting BBA DH. I have my fingers crossed that Hall still has a little bumping left. Harmon is a left-handed lottery ticket. I think I could have held Cantrell for longer and gotten a little more but I didn't want to risk him getting hurt or lumping. Hall's age aligns him with the rest of my core position players. I'm excited to try and get Gousto's development going.
- Twin Cities traded San Fernando $500K for C Clinton Tyler (with SFB retaining 50% of Tyler's contract). This will clear us a couple million dollars we can allocate towards our farm system. Tyler was worth 1.9 WAR in his partial season.
As a result, we'll call up the .378 hitting 22 year-old catcher, Augusto Annis, to share time with Dale Olds. The future is now behind the plate for the Bears.
- SFB claimed RP Troy Andrews from Vancouver. Expect to see Andrews take the place of one of the currently struggling members of the Bears' bullpen. He's had success in the BBA and he still has the ratings of an effective reliever. Doesn't hurt he's left-handed.
