Welcome to the first edition (But second teams news of the season) for the Edmonton Jackrabbits; The Wascally Wack Wabbit Cwonicles! In these occasional missives we will look at the comings and goings and accomplishments and failures of the Edmonton Jackrabbits! I will attempt to keep you updated on the Jackrabbits 2059 season when I am not too depressed from looking at the standings. Give an update on the farm system and other stuff I haven't thought of yet.

And away we go!

Jackrabbits Snared Out of the Gate Edmonton got off to a horrible 2-9 start and are wearing a five-game losing streak on their shoulders. They are last in hitting, next to last in pitching and last in defensive efficiency. As the GM, outside of hitting, pitching and fielding, I am out of ideas as to what these guys could be good at!

A lone bright spot in a dismal start to the season, Brent Gilbert has gotten off to a blistering start, batting .342/.350/.605. Gilbert was tapped as the heart of the order in the offseason and has not disappointed. Taking over the role at 1B, Gilbert has been a very welcome presence in the lineup.

A large factor in the slow start has been the back end of the bullpen as both setup men, Wilson Lopez and Hector Gonzalez are sporting ERAs above 15.00 and closer Max Birstall has been putrid with an 11.57 ERA so far.

The season is young but lets step it up guys or it will be wabbit hunting season

What's Coming Up the Rabbit Hole Tucson (AAA) has gotten off to an even/uneven start. The lineup is crushing the ball while the pitching staff is getting "Bugs Bunnied" on the mound. For those of you too young, Bugs Bunny is the same thing as "Charlie Browned", which is when you get hit so hard with line drives up the middle, you have to jump out of the way to avoid getting creamed by the ball. In AA the former Saskatchewan Monarchs opened their new digs in Winnipeg with a new logo and new uniform. Though they are still three games under .500 and four games back. At least the unis look nice.
