Hawaii hits six homers, hangs on to defeat Madison 13-10
Sullivan has slam; Hawaii hits back-to-back home runs—twice!
Ramos goes 3 for 5, hits first ML home run

Madison
June 4

Hawaii Tropics hit back-to-back home runs in consecutive innings (7th and 8th); Joe Sullivan hit
a two-out a grand slam in the 5th; SS Pat Sims hit two home runs; and Ignacio Ramos belted
his first ML home run in a six home run onslaught against Madison that Hawaii hung on to win
tonight at The Den 13-10, after leading 13-4.

Sullivan also homered in the 7th, a 2-run 440-foot blast that was followed by a 399-foot shot
by rookie Ignacio Ramos, hitting his first ML home run. Ramos collected his first two ML hits,
both singles, and his initial ML rbi earlier against Madison's Cedric Ayers, who lost his first game
of the season. Ayers allowed 7 earned runs on 10 hits in 5 innings pitched, although he allowed
only one home run: the 5th-inning slam by Sullivan.

In the 8th, Sims and Liao Kuan hit consecutive home runs against reliever Bradshaw, giving
Hawaii a 13-4 lead as a few fans headed for the exits—perhaps to catch the midnight showing
of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which opened tonight.

Yet Hawaii allowed five runs in the bottom of the 8th, four by reliever John Carter and one by
Mazariegos. In the 9th John Daniels collected his 9th save by retiring Pio Vallejo with two runners
on base after Madison scored their tenth run, off Carlos Talavera.

SP Remington Little ran his record to 4-2, 3.27 despite allowing 7 walks in 5 2/3 innings. Sims
added a double in the 1st, giving him 10 total bases for the game. C Hurley Reyes and 2b
Bobby Cullison
also doubled. Hawaii left 4 men on base.

I'm afraid this is the start of Ayers coming back down to earth for Madison...

Hey, Steve Bradshaw made the majors (for Madison)!!!! Drafted three times before signing (he was also a great GBC guy from back in the day).

I remember the name from the GBC. I'd love to get my hands on Ad Collins just for nostalgia sake, but I have no where to play him and he's too decent right now.

Bradshaw has always had low control, but I'm obsessed with the high stuff, medium control guys who throw hard. They seem to do well in Madison.
