VALENCIA – The Comets recently completed their ninth consecutive losing season. Jamestown finished last in their division and weren't much good at anything. Were there any players who turned in performances worth mentioning?

Position Player of the Year: Outfielder, David Williams
Acquired: 2048 Draft, 4th Pick in Round 11 (359th Overall)
Born: Joliet, Illinois
.345/.400/.475, .875 OPS, 130 wRC+, 2.3 WAR
Signature Moment: Went 5 for 7, scoring 2 runs, on April 12, against the Kamloops Moops

Williams has done alright for an eleventh round pick. So good was his performance in Class AA that he won promotion to AAA in July. Known as a keen student of the game, his future in baseball may be in coaching, or even the front office. Williams's gifts are modest, and he likely has topped out at AAA barring significant injury troubles on the big league squad. The BBA scouting service has assigned to him a future value score of 40.

Pitcher of the Year: Jorge Gomez
Acquired: 2049 Draft, 8th Pick in Round 12 (383rd Overall)
Born: Orocovis, Puerto Rico
4.88 ERA, 80 K, 35 BB, 88 HA, 4 HRA, 86.2 IP, 84 FIP-, 1.9 WAR
Signature Moment: Struck out 11, walked 1, allowed 5 hits, and 2 earned runs in 6.1 innings pitched in a losing effort against the Alpine Valley Snow Creatures on June 19

Gomez bounced between Class AA (where he pitched well) and AAA (where he did not pitch well) all season. With a 101 mph heater that features little movement, and a decent slider and curveball, Gomez is an extreme flyball pitcher who will occasionally watch too many of those flyballs go over the wall. The BBA scouting service gives him a 40 future value.
