The Chicago Black Sox have unveiled a proposed new uniform design incorporating the team’s historic color scheme: black and white.
Team owner Vinnie Vitale insisted on a simple, uncomplicated look, with black pinstripes and the team logo on the jersey front and “Chicago” spelled out on the front of the cap.
Although the look does not yet have official league approval, Vitale seemed unconcerned.
“If the commish is at all concerned about the whereabouts of his vehicle, we’re pretty sure this will be OK,” Vitale said.
The BBA Commissioner’s Office declined comment.
Later in the afternoon, however, Vitale reached out to Chicago Sports Online to stress that he had meant his comment to be humorous.
“We kid the commish,” he stressed. “We kid because we love.”
