Omaha Organizational Report

Post by aaronweiner » Fri May 27, 2011 11:40 am

Ah, a nice treat for the scribe to start the 2001 earning cycle: a closer look at the #2 farm system in the MBBA.

What's really fun about having a top farm system is not just the fact that this group has five members in the elite top 50 MBBA prospects, all of them quality. There's depth and quality to all kinds of prospects down there, from less heralded prospects to players who would be perfect for reliever conversions to some interesting deep sleepers. It's the kind of team that makes you both excited for this team's future while simultaneously wondering if there's enough room to fit all of them in.

Forget the really top guys for just a second and concentrate on guys who aren't in the top 100: at AAA, Eric Rouse. At AA, Armando Gomez. At Rookie League, Carlos Vega. And that's just scratching the surface.

To say I'm looking forward to writing this one up is to say that a lion likes meat. I'll be working on this one this afternoon, and it'll be great fun to do it.
