Parker Pilots
Top prospects AND super-sweet sleepers.
Top prospects:
Vincente Martinez
Martinez has a "can't miss" label on him, and it appears to be deserved. He had a bit of a rough patch last year, and didn't quite produce at the AAA level, but there's a reasonable amount of optimism surrounding the righty. He's just 22, so he's still young for AA, and it would be good to see him have a full season of success on the level, though he should do well there.
Dan Winter
Winter definitely didn't belong on the AAA level last year, so it's a relief to see him back at AA. He had done well at the level, though his strikeout rate is alarmingly low, and there's little question he's been a bit rushed up the ladder. He's still just 20, however.
Best of the rest:
Joey Stevens
Stevens throws hard and well, and his all his abilities have improved since being drafted. We think he's slightly underrated and will be a productive, if unamazing professional.
Armando Gomez
The most impressive thing about Gomez is his early development; he's just 20 years old, and already he's very productive at AA. He's borderline ready for AAA, but there's no good reason to rush him there since he's still at least two years away from the majors.
Harry Kennett
Speaking of early developers, Kennett made the major leagues last year, and while he's clearly not ready for the show, he's almost as close as he'll ever be. Projects as an average reliever, but could get better than that if he finds some new skills.
Sleepers and Creepers
Arturo Villanueva
He does nothing well, but offensively he looks to be potentially mildly productive. Guy's got no position, though.
Richard Windle
Windle is an interesting player for a catcher, but we'd be more sold on him if he could have hit more than .250 last year at Parker. Guy's got 160 SB in six minor league seasons, though.
Ad Collins
He's not a really impressive looking player, and he belongs at A-level Council Bluffs. But Collins has plenty of skills for a 19 year old; he could be a nice surprise.
Dennis Griggs
Needs to get a clue, but if he does he could be special. Just 20 years old.
