before people comment, yes the podcast doesnt match the media guide. There was some data missing at the time of the pod, and that one start by flores was enough to pass lynch. I will get the full spreadsheet up (with tabs for each team, plus some other info not covered in the media guide piece), later tonight for everyone to browse at their leisure.

So much to love in this issue. Superfan Elenor is a hidden gem. As a fiction guy, I think I love these kinds of profiles far too much.

:)

Thanks, Edward.

What a cool story on the EBA.

What exactly was the EBA and how did it relate to the BBA? Was it a sister league or like a minor for the BBA? I've never really understood it. I just knew I had a bunch of players from the EBA when I took over for Twin Cities.

And I owe a huge thanks for whoever brought all those players over to the River Monsters

I'd say it was more like an independent league with a loose affiliation with the BBA. Trades between the leagues weren't allowed, but free agency was open between the leagues. Every year the BBA held a draft where they could select star EBA players (that weren't FA eligible but that met certain requirements) and then they would enter the FA pool with the drafting team getting rights to match their contract regardless of who signed them.

It served as a minor league for GMs though...I managed Amsterdam for a bit before coming to the BBA.

Personally I miss it, though I think it was a lot of extra work for Matt, and we folded the EBA into the expansion teams when we expanded.

It was a fun aspect of the league, but it added complexity that took a little time to get used to. It also served as a great holding bin and learning environment for prospective BBA GMs. I was in Madrid for a little while before coming to Yellow Springs. So some of the EBA players still strike me.

There is so much in the media guide and the multiple podcasts, it is going to take a week just to get caught up! Great job on it as always Ron.

Basically, the EBA was a pasture where young colts roamed (players who slipped through the BBA cracks, or entered the game world through the EBA draft) with old stallions put out to pasture (former BBA players trying to hang on for one more shot).

I loved the EBA myself, but i'm sure it was a TON of extra work for Recte. It actually was a good way to get into the history of the Brewster, as I had about 3-5 former BBA all-stars on my roster that year in Paris.

Great addition, guys. I'd like to say I'd take 87 wins, but not if it keeps me out of the playoffs.

The EBA is a great concept and I've been in other leagues who considered having some sort of league like that for the reasons we had it. The other aspects, like the draft, were great additions to that idea. But as others have said, I imagine it had to be a pain manage.

Finally made it to the injuries piece, a few things:

1) I actually like the DtD injury increase as it adds another layer and helps to mix things up year-to-year.
2) I need to tell my guys to stop hustling, there are way too many injuries on the basepaths and in the field league wide
3) I wish we could easily track 60-day DL stints, I feel like we may have had a league record 60-Day DL stints this past year.

I like the injury rate up, too. It feels more realistic and it demands organizational depth.

I agree on the injuries as well. Just sucks when those thugs in YS decide they want to break a Surfers ankle ;)
