Atlantic City Tides 2K.4 - Gamblers Win Frick Atlantic

For the second time in 3 years, the Atlantic City Gamblers have captured the division title in the Frick League Atlantic. The club solidified their place in the postseason by going to Buffalo and sweeping the bisons in 4 games. They then travelled to Montreal and took all 3 games against the Blazers . The Gamblers have used a 9 game win streak to propel themselves to 86-72 and a 7 game lead with 3 to play.

The 86 wins marks the 4th time in 6 seasons that the Gamblers have finished the year with a winning record, and it also marks the econd year (1998) that they have claimed the divison crown. Last season a horrid start was too much for the club to overcome to win the title (or make the playoffs), but this year they hung tight and kept making changes to ensure the team was rolling late in the season.

The Gamblers were slow out the gate - a 12-15 April put them behind the 8 ball. A 16-12 May bounced them back. A 14-14 June and 13-13 July kept them close enough to make a run. A 15-12 August had them in the thick of it and now a 6-6 September has them in the MBBA Playoffs.

The Gambler offense has been th ekey to their success - as they lead the Frick League in walks and homeruns. Be patient at the plate, wait for your pitch and porch it has been the philosphy. The 1-2 punch of Ross White and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson have combined for 76 homeruns, 234 RBI, and 220 runs. The Gamblers will be leaning on them hard in the postseason, hoping that their recent strong pitching and the dynamic duo and company can bring them home a ring.
