Re: Cartwright Cup: New Orleans or Jacksonville
Why New Orleans will win: Hector Amaral and Freddy Delgado may well be the two finest pitchers in baseball, and the staff as a whole was second in strikeouts. As far as Jacksonville is concerned, K is for Kryptonite. It’s possible that Crawdad pitchers will combine for a 20+ K game, or two, somewhere in this series. New Orleans lost six of eight to this team in the regular season. They win because the law of averages says they snap back.
Why Jacksonville will win: We keep pretending that the Jacksonville pitching is suspect, but Crow, Tonche, and Mendez are top-notch guys who lose a little luster because they throw in a small park. Totten is just as good. Put them together with one of the better defensive lineups in the game, and an offense that dents walls like a full pack of Ballpark Franks, and you’ve got a combination hitting on all cylinders at the right time. Jacksonville wins because they’re riding the wave.

Well, if we end up the favorite, I guess that means we will lose.
Honestly though, this is the first pitching staff that could really overpower our bats, and the bats have to cool off at some point. The lefty closer and setup man could be an issue too.

It must be frustrating to play in this series...
Knowing that whatever happens, the winner is only one round away from being swept...
Struggle on, and fight the good fight, you brave little men

The pundits got this one right...a close one.
5 for the good guys
4 in error.
