With injuries to SP Bonaventure Habermas and top prospect Norberto Leon, GM Brandon Slouck went out and traded for Atlantic City veteran SP Nicholas Sutton to help bolster the rotation.
The team was looking for a before the injuries. Believing they needed more depth, Sutton had been a target in the offseason but could not come to a deal with Atlantic City GM Josh Biddle.
"Legs is a quality SP," said GM Brandon Slouck. "He's been on our radar for a bit now and saw him as someone to fill a need in the offseason. The rotation has been solid, but has room for improvement. Some of the injuries added to our urgency to add someone and we contacted AC again and clearly got a deal done."
In the move, Charm City moved RP Jose Munoz and former 1st round pick, C Gabriel Flores.
"We liked Munoz and think he will be successful with AC," the CCJ GM said. "He was solid and we just didn't have a spot for him right now do to option issues and the 'pen being fantastic this year. Flores still has power potential but we have a few catching prospects with a similar profile as him. We wish both players the best of luck."
When asked if they will attempt to resign Sutton, all the GM said was "we'll talk to his agent at some point about it." While it's not a forgone conclusion they'll resign him, you'd think they'll at least make an attempt given there isn't much help from the farm on the horizon.

Sutton is a solid pick up. One of those unsung guys who just find a way to make the team better.

Yeah, he is. His extension demands aren't unreasonable either, so he may get resigned.
