Ping:Moondoggy

My son and I are rolling dice these days. Helps with his math development and it's nice to get away from the computer :) I know you used to be a fan :)

Sweet! Nothing like actually playing with the cards. I am still in a Strat league with a bunch of guys from college. I created a free agency system with salaries and everything. We play out all the games and meet each February for the draft. However, that is all played in the computer version. Not the same.

I thought about getting v16 this year but held off and just got the cards. Reason I bought them (first time I think since '02) was to get away from the computer (and because Trent is actually interested in the numbers).

Inspires me to want to purchase the cards. I've got a 10 year old who digs math and baseball.

Trent is only 7 but loves reading the dice and the cards. Went to a futures game with Matt, his family, and another friend and sat out at field level and Trent was really in to it. Bought the MLB.TV package and we run it in the background and he's digging it. We started doing boxscores the other day so he can start seeing "who's hitting and pitching better".

Only problem is that he seems to be focusing on the Rangers...that seems to be the team he likes (and Corey Hart).

It could be worse. At least it isn't the Yankees.

Speaking of, when we lived in New England, my second son, who was about 8 at the time, decided he was going to be a Yankees fan. He would openly root for them and against my Sox. Being a die-hard Red Sox fan but also desiring to be a good parent, I sat him down one day and said, "Now, I'm not going to tell you who you should like. You have to make these decisions for yourself. I just want you to understand that if you persist in this behavior, it is going to create some problems for us. I'd like you to strongly reconsider your position." Yes, he understood all of that at 7 years old. I raise 'em right. Anyway...it turned out that he had decided on the Yankees because some kids at school that he didn't like were Sox fans, as is pretty much everyone in New Hampshire. I was able to convince him that he shouldn't make his choices based on the opinions of jerks. He eventually came to his senses.

On a different topic, I am a little creeped out by the commercial with Roy Halladay and his blow-up Carlos Ruiz.

HOly crap I never associated that to Corey Hart! I wonder if they'll ever play that song at the stadium?? (actually they did like 6 years ago).

I was totally going to make a Sunglasses at Night reference before and decided against it. Figured it was too obvious!
