In a surprising move, the first place Madison Wolves have traded their #1 pitcher Chet Steadman. Steadman has been dealt to league rival Greeneville in return for 2 major league pitchers and 2 minor league pitchers. General manager Chris Wilson commented on the deal.

"It wasn't an easy one to make" said Wilson at the press conference. "We felt that with the current finances of our team, we needed to make a move. We had a couple of players we were keying on trying to move and Steadman received the most interest from around the league. We had a handful of offers and Greeneville stepped up with an offer that we felt benefited our franchise the most. While we didn't receive anything that will fill the void left by Steadman for this year, we do feel as though we received a fair compensation that will help the team now and in the future."

Chet went 16-9 a year ago and was a remarkable 21-2 two seasons ago. He compiled a 40-14 record in 2.5 seasons with Madison. But concern over a drop in ability had raised some red flags in the organization.

Coming over to Madison are Daniel Kinard (a struggling #6 or 7 starter), John Rhoades (a decent reliever with a roller coaster career), Chris Bax (a 26 year old AAA reliever that has some lively stuff, but time is running out) and Terry Dumont (a 4-star prospect with a lot to prove between now and whenever he reaches it to the bigs)
