A 11-17 August is really not much to get excited about. I tried. It didn't work for me.
Batter of the month

No prizes for guessing third baseman Devin Clark. 'Fungo' as he is commonly referred to, continued his breakout 2008, with a .305/.364/.571/.936 August, belting 7 homeruns and 27 RBI's. His #2 jersey is the only thing that sells in the Sluggers stadium store, besides the paper bags for the fan's heads.
Starter of the month

This one was tougher; when Allen Izzat went down in a season ending injury in early August, visions of Bob Stenis and his 9.26 August ERA being named starter of the month, kept me awake at night. Luckily, Andy Nebraska was available on waivers, and his three starts, of 14.1 total innings, and a 3.71 ERA, were enough to garner him the honours. Its enough to make you curl up in a fetal ball.
Reliever of the month

Enrique Escues has been a welcome surprise in the Sluggers pen, in that he hasn't completley sucked like the rest. He appeared in 13 games in August, 19.1 innings, and earned two wins for his 1.86 ERA. Good job Mr. Escues!
