It's always a sign of a struggling season that a 4-3 Sim is a relief. The Spuds were on the way to their worst month of the year but now have matched June's win total with 2 games remaining. In interdivision play Boise has been swept in 3 series and came into the week having been swept by New Orleans. The squad managed to avoid the sweep in Sim #17 which is a relief we suppose.

v Charlotte 5-4(11) W SP Dan Boman (ND) - 20 G, 20 GS, 7-9, 4.97 ERA, 117.2 IP, 2.2 K/BB, 1.50 WHIP, +1.2 WAR
CL Mario Santos - W(3)
v Charlotte 5-4 W SP Josh Clark (W) - 21 G, 21 GS, 10-5, 3.37 ERA, 3.5 K/BB, 1.16 ERA, +2.4 WAR
Santos - SV(16)
v Charlotte 8-9 L SP Mahad Einan (L) - 22 G, 22 GS, 4.07 ERA, 126.0 IP, 1.6 K/BB, 1.27 WHIP, +0.9 WAR
v Charlotte 0-3 L SP Niegloslaw Woywitka (L) - 11 G, 11 GS, 0-10, 9.27 ERA, 2.23 WHIP, 1.99 WHIP, -0.7 WAR
Having suffered a sweep in New Orleans, and going 1-9 in the last 10 games, the Spuds limped into Sim #17. Looking to avoid a sweep Boise quickly got 2 wins on the board while hosting Charlotte. The opener was, with no doubt, an epic game that will go on the highlight reel in this miserable season. The Spuds came to the bottom of the 9th trailing 4-0, but with the last gasp Boise managed 4 runs to tie the game then pushed across the winning run in the 11th sending the home crowd into a frenzy. The comeback was courtesy of solo homeruns from 1B William Coleman and C Tadanobu Otani, 2 walks, and a 2-RBI single by RF Tsutomu Yamauchi. SS Dan Raymond delivered the walkoff win with an RBI single. Boman's outing was good allowing 4 runs in 7 innings while striking out 9 and Santos covered the last 3 innings of the game for his 3rd win on the wings of the walkoff. Kid Clark had almost a mirror image start to Boman's in the 2nd game allowing 4 runs in 7 innings. Santos made his 2nd appearance in as many days collecting his 16th save of the year. Furball Einan stumbled in the 3rd game of the series allowing 5 runs in only 3 innings of work, but the Spuds nearly delivered another late-innings victory scoring 7 runs over the 7th and 8th innings. Charlotte CF José Bedridden posted a 3-5 day with 3 RBI. In the finale Woywitka added another loss to his ledger for 10 on the year...but hold on a second. He wasn't bad allowing 2 runs in 5 inning while fanning 6. The Spuds just had no answer for Charlotte SP Bob Anderson who allowed just 1 hit in 8 innings of work.

v San Antonio 2-3(14) L P Buddhapalita Kankipati (ND) - 28 G, 9 GS, 3-5, 1 SV, 4.71 ERA, 72.2 IP, 2.3 K/BB, -0.4 WAR
Santos - BS(5)
v San Antonio 9-3 W Bowman (W)
v San Antonio 4-3 W Clark (W)
Santos - SV(17)
Coming off a split against Charlotte, Boise looked to, again, avoid a sweep in a 4-game home set vs the Outlaws. The opener was another close loss for the Spuds as Flyers C Bradford McBearett delivered a solo HR off Santos to tie the game in the 9th and pushed across the winning run in the 14th with an RBI single. Boman was stellar in the 2nd contest allowing just 3 runs in 7 innings as the offense jumped all over Flyers SP Troy Andrews early and often. LF Cosmo Pan was 4-4 scoring 3 times and driving in 2 runs. In the 3rd game of the series Clark followed Boman's lead allowing just 3 runs in 8 innings fanning 6. The Spuds now enter the last game of the series in Sim #18 with a chance to actually win the series. It would be Boise's first win since a home series against Cobble Hill just before the All-Star game.
