2063-9 Growing frustration (one shot)

Post by Knucklehead254 » Tue Jun 03, 2025 10:29 pm

How? Just how?

How does this team just continue to surprise me. Last season we took a step forward, made the postseason with youngsters and some great pitching, predicted to being a potential division contender this season, to now being four games under .500 no where close to the division race or even playoff race with last place just 3 games back. What the hell happened?

I can’t even try to turn and blame injuries cause that’s sure as hell ain’t why. Outside of Elovsky missing three weeks we haven’t had any injury trouble yet, so am I fucked when that eventually comes around?

5-12, that is our current record at home. At. Home. May as well hand out the deed to the other pacific teams since they essentially own the ballpark right now. Which of course will piss off the fans paying money to go, and when they stop going it affects our bottom line. This totally won’t be a problem in the future though right?

So of course how about the players. Goater went from All-Star last year to can’t hit above the damn Mendoza line. Hinkle only has 4 homers, Ruiz has cooled off after his hot start (though at least that was expected) but nobody else on the offense wants to heat up and it’s infuriating. To put it lightly: WE CANT FUCKING SCORE.

How about the pitching? Well Bessi is doing fine at 6-1, Juan Garcia is currently 0-6, Motka Beteev is 0-3, Garcia blew a save though we at least ended up winning the game. Our highest pitching WAR right now? Fucking 39 year old Will Ritter… who’s pitched 4 relief appearances. Bessi himself only has 0.1 (fucking fantastic) and everyone else? Ha. Just take a look for yourself it’s embarrassing. Though granted the complete lack of run support doesn’t help at all.

I know I know, “Mommmm Aaron is complaining after just a month of baseball season” and don’t get me wrong I’m not as ticked as the complete meltdown of 2061, I’m not ready to start blowing it up.. yet. But this is a wake up call, if we can’t get out of May in a position more comfortably in the playoff race instead of the toilet bowl then I would expect players to start being moved. Or hell maybe even my job will be on the line if we keep fucking up.

Anyways hope you all have a good one, see you next sim.

I'm gonna attempt to be the annoying but coldly analytical voice of reason. Your pythag and base runs records are both 16-16. The median projection for your team before the season was like 86-88 wins. And true talent .537 teams go ".500" over 32 game stretches easily. The fact some players are obviously underperforming should be a sign things will improve. They're all young players who should be getting better, not worse. It would be different if your under performers were a collection of 31 year old pitchers like me.

I'm sure we will bounce back, I have more faith than I did in 61. That being said it's still been a very disappointing start and I don't want wait too long before we dig ourselves too deep.
