In what was considered part of the rebuilding process, Valencia picked up outfielder Jagara Ranjani off the waiver wire from the Austin Shredders.
Picked up as a 5th outfielder, Jagara was penciled in as a defensive replacement and maybe someone to start if the other youngsters in the outfield needed a day off.

In the first game of the series in Bikini, centerfielder Santiago Dieguez led off the game by hitting a double. Unfortunately, Santiago left the game with a pulled hamstring. Enter Ranjani. He went the rest of the game going 2 for 3 in a losing effort as the Krill won by a score of 8-4.

Ranjani is easily the best defensive outfielder on the Valencia squad with a range of 8 and a cannon-arm rating of 10. Even though he is young, Ranjani is a natural leader even with some older guys on the Stars' roster. Ranjani also has some speed on the basepaths but has yet to attempt a steal in his 6 times on base.

While Dieguez keeps nursing his injury, Ranjani has continued to hit at a .316 clip going 6 for 19. While nobody expects Ranjani to keep up that pace with a current contact rating of 3 with a potential of reaching 6, it has been a welcomed surprise to the Valencia faithful. Dieguez is expected to be fully recovered within the week.
