HoF Voting - Eligibility Ends 2067

Post by RonCo » Thu Apr 24, 2025 2:52 pm

With the HoF Voting officially open, I thought I'd try to release a few "Candidate Threads." There are so many interesting guys on the list, though, that it's hard to get into details on them all, so I thought I'd try a different take and trace their paths through the voting maze. What follows are players, and what percentage of the vote they have gotten each year of eligibility

Here are players who all are on their 2nd of seven seasons of eligibility:

BBA HOF VotingYr 1Yr 2Yr 3Yr 4Yr 5Yr 6Yr 7
David Lee13.2%
Bill Constable7.9%
Lineu Aldo47.4%
Kidane Ata23.7%
Adam Backhouse31.6%
Fernando Castillo39.5%
Eduardo Gonzalez71.1%
Tomas Guillen10.5%
Pedro Huerta21.1%
Girolamo L'Archibudelli7.9%
Andre Ly39.5%
Fernando Moreno47.5%

I think this will be one of the most interesting classes to watch. I think it’s almost certain that Constable, Lee, Guillen and L’Arch are about as certain to fall off the ballot as it’s possible to be certain.

After that there’s nothing but question marks.

Eduardo Gonzalez almost made it in his first year, but that was in a class smaller than this one. Common wisdom would have said he’d probably edge in this year, but the floodgates opening make it a reasonable bet that his 71% will slide down a rung or two. Who’s to say?

The voters, that’s who.

The voters will also be sorting through all these guys who sat at 20%-50% in their first year. How real were those numbers? Could Huerta and Ata actually slide far enough to drop off the list? Will Aldo, Ly, or Moreno gain a little air beneath their wings?

Predictions:

This will be fun. I’ve got my popcorn out.

Surprising that Constable only received 7.9% last year. Castillo, Ata, and Ly fell off my ballot this year, but Gonzalez is on there. He’s got my only vote from this loaded 2067 class.

Lee gets a homer vote from me. I was shocked to see he made it past 5 percent to be honest. To me, if not a career Niner, Lee got his major counting stat by hanging on vs being good. which makes it irrelevant. And he wasn't good enough in peak years, which I don't do a lot of weight towards anyway.

I voted for Gonzalez. And Alta. But that's mostly because I felt the new class would hang on without me and they might not.

I agree gonzalez numbers may have been boosted by a smaller class. Sometimes its okay not to vote for anyone some years. He was at the doorstep for votes….

2062 RESULTS:

Spot on. :)

Every one of these players made the 5% level needed to see the ballot next year. Only two, Eduardo González and Lineu Aldo surpassed 16%. A vast majority faded by 10-30%, however. So we'll see if any start to fall off during the 2063 ballot round.
