Kuo Slow Rolls Surfers

The Bluebirds started out the gates slow for Nashville standards, but sit just 2 games behind Twin Cities for the top spot in the Heartland. The slow start could be due to the team adjusting to losing bin Nawaf and Cano in the offseason, but their replacements have played well, including De-shi Kuo. The slugging first baseman has seen most of his time on the bench, but has shined bright when given an opportunity to relieve Juan Rivera andWafid Bishr.

Kuo, 24, has been a top 50 prospect since 2056 and finally received an opportunity at the BBA level. His .989 OPS in AAA last season would have forced a promotion from most teams, but there just wasn’t room on the Bluebirds roster. With two sluggers off the roster, Kuo was called upon to be on the Opening Day roster, but would be limited to a bench role. However, in 82 PA this season, Kuo is slashing .353/.451/.706 with 6 HR.

With a southpaw on the mound in tonight’s game versus the Surfers, Kuo would, again, be sitting on the pine as he watched the Birds fight an uphill battle being down 3-2 headed into the bottom of the 9th.

“I was just texting Surfers GM, @Lane as the game wrapped up,” said GM Chad Nason. “It was a simple ‘GG’ text. They were bringing in Marty, who we’re no strangers with, so it’s almost lights out when he comes into the game. Then Kuo came into the game to pinch hit and BOOM! Game. Blouses. I sent a follow-up text to Lane – Whoops. Sorry bout the slow roll.”

Kuo continues to battle for time and is making a case to become a full-time player, but Rivera and Bishr are established stars and important parts in the heart of the Bluebirds lineup. Kuo could be a trade candidate and would be a hot commodity if he continues his torrid pace, but with the top rated farm system, Nashville doesn’t really have any needs of the future. It’s most likely to continue seeing Kuo limited to late game heroics coming off the bench, which isn’t anything to be upset about.

You have the luxury of making your 21st through 27th men players who would be starting elsewhere.

I’m aware. I love it. Gotta enjoy it while it lasts.
