Milestones

Aaron Haney recorded his 3,500th hit on August 24th. He's just the 12th player in BBA history to accomplish the feat.

Gonzalo Martínez joined the always impressive 3,000 hit club just two weeks later on September 8th against the Vancouver Mounties.

Speaking of 3,000 hits, all time great Blazer Lineu Aldo joined the club on September 19th as the San Fernando Bears visited the Surfers. Pundits all over the continent lambasted the Montreal club for trading away the 39 year old future Hall of Fame player just 26 hits shy of the milestone. No team in BBA history has traded away a one-team player like Aldo so close to reaching 3,000 hits.

Career Years

Emílio Reyes broke out in a big way in 2059. Not only did he have his best offensive season (.305/.342/.498), he also proved to be the most valuable defender on the team. A .990 fielding percentage and 7.3 ZR in 116 games at shortstop gave way to a .962 fielding percentage and -4.4 ZR in 24 starts at shortstop. The move to the middle infield was necessitated by a season ending injury to SS Steveland Morris. Sure, Reyes was no defensive star at short, but he filled a hole when the team needed help.

BBA Debuts in the Playoffs

Outfielder Malmoud Omoruyi made his BBA debut in the Geoghegan Round of the playoffs, going 0-8 with one walk. The performance of course was nothing special, but for a 23 year old that started the season at Class A Tombstone, it's surely notable.

Héctor Marino also made his BBA debut in the playoffs, appearing as a defensive replacement in just one game, but serving an important role as a backup infielder.
