FROST RE-SIGNS FOR ANOTHER 3 YEARS
It pretty obvious that after having one of his better seasons, Tony Frost chose to opt out of his $11 million player option for 2056 in looks for a better payday. While not the news Wharram had been hoping for, there was opportunity as Frost was more than willing to discuss an extension to keep him here. After he has become an immediate fan favorite in the city Vancouver and fans could've potentially rioted worse than their Stanley Cup loss in 2011. Heaven knows we wouldn't want that again. Reportedly Frost wanted a maximum 6 year contract worth roughly $13.5 million annually. While the annual salary didn't seem to bad, especially for his quality of play, giving a man who will turn 42 by the end of that contract didn't thrill Wharram.
Rumor's speculate Wharram only wanted to do a 3 year extension at roughly $12 million annually with either a vesting or team option on the final year. At first it seems Frost wouldn't budge on either term or price tag but eventually came around on the term once Wharram told him "you and I both know you're a great player, but no team is gonna give you six years in FA unless they're that desperate or Chad." However Frost would only do three years if the final year was a player option. He also offered to meet Wharram half-way on price at $12.8 million annually. After a bit of deliberating and final pushes to change the third year to a vesting option (he refused), the two sides agreed to the final deal. A 3-year $38.4 million contract with a player option for the third year.
"We are incredibly excited to have Frost around for this small window we have," says Wharram, "it's no secret we rate him highly and we're glad we were able to push through and agree to a deal both sides are happy with."
The Sam Steele Award winner also spoke to reporters shortly after the deal was made.
"Obviously I'm very happy here and feel like my career resurgance was thanks in part to playing in this city," says Frost, "last year we were close to making the playoffs so I know we are not finished here."
Fan reaction was also very positive towards the move, with fans already saying to "plan the parade". However, some did express concern for the the third year as Frost will be 37, and some wonder if he'll still be able to play at the level he is now. But for the most part expect to see Tony Frost anchor the third base corner for the next few years!

I may be desperate, but not for Frost haha. I got the most out of him while I could. He had a great resurgence last year, but I'm curious how he holds up. Always liked him as a player.

Re: 2055-11
If he can pull at least one or two more years like that I'll be happy. Just glad I talked him down from 6 years.
