Phoenix Talons...1995.2

Phoenix announces deal that will blow the MBBA away...

"Yep, I got my man,"confirmed GM Hopkins,"Doc Dahl is now a Phoenix Talon."

To those that aren't familiar with the outer edges of the MBBA's talent pool, Doc Dahl is a thirty-five year old backup catcher who was wasting away on the bench of the worst team in the MBBA, the Vancouver Mounties.

The bold move was necessitated by the second season ending injury suffered by a Phoenix backstop in 1994. Eye-chart Gowdsz becoming the latest casualty to the injury bug that has bit the Phoenix ball club hard this season.

Is this the deal that finally enables Phoenix to catch the wild-card leading California Crusaders?

GM Hopkins thinks so. "16 games is nothing - we're ready to go now, look out Cali. The Doctor is in!"

Some would question the wisdom of trading away a fourth round pick, on a washed up catcher, in a season that is essentially lost; but not GM Hopkins.

"No big deal,"he insisted,"It was Des Moines' pick anyway from the McGrevey trade. Now that trade looks excellent - esssentially Doc and Felix for a AAA reliever. That will never come back to bite me on the ass!"
