Marty Powers signed a 1-year contract extension worth a total of $5,865,000. Powers had a bounceback year as the Hustlers closer, and it was enough for Las Vegas to bring him back for another year at age 37.

The Hustlers had no intention of re-signing Shane Christen after they acquired him from the Washington Bobwhites at the Trade Deadline. He was demanding over 8 million per year and got off to a horrible start for the Hustlers. However, that horrible start knocked down his asking price and at $5,500,000 per year for two years the Hustlers had to go for it. He'll be in the rotation next year for sure. The odd man out is yet to be determined.

The unsung hero of the 2nd half of 1999 was a throw in to an earlier trade. Santiago Colon was the Hustlers best reliever throughout the 2nd half of the season, and he earned a one year extension worth $4.2 million as the teams #1 middle reliever.

At $1,500,000 for one year, the Hustlers took a low risk gamble by bringing back Richard "Dicky" Reemer, who had pitched the last effectively of any of the imports during the 2nd half (but still had a 1.11 WHIP).
